Data Privacy

QVI projects may involve audience research and measurement, and privacy considerations are part of the initiative's work. This page describes the general approach QVI takes to information and privacy. Because individual projects differ, the details that apply in any particular case may be set out separately for that project.

Our Approach

QVI aims to use information responsibly. The exact information involved in any activity may depend on the individual QVI project. As a general matter, the initiative seeks to work in line with the following principles:

  • Data minimization — limiting the information involved to what is relevant.
  • Transparency — explaining, at the appropriate level, what a project involves.
  • Aggregated research — focusing on aggregated insights rather than individuals wherever practical.
  • Purpose limitation — limiting collection to information relevant to the research purpose.
  • User choice — providing appropriate choices where applicable.

Because projects vary, this page does not make absolute claims about any specific activity. Where a specific commitment applies, it will be described in the information for that project.

Project-Specific Information

Individual QVI projects, applications, extensions or research activities may provide additional privacy information relevant to that specific project. Where that is the case, the project-specific information should be read together with this general summary, and it takes precedence for the project it describes.

Opt-Out Request

If you would like to request an opt-out in relation to a QVI project, you can use the form below. So that a request can be located and acted upon, QVI may need enough information to identify the relevant project or participation record.

This request is delivered by email through the FormSubmit relay service. There is no database or application backend; the members area is protected by access control running at the network edge. A request is only acted upon once it has been received and reviewed by the QVI privacy contact — submitting the form does not by itself remove any information.
